This is an update from my original post (which you can read below if you are brave (or bored) enough.) =D
edit: Sorry ahead of time for the bad formatting... reddit does not like copy & paste.
UPDATE
Howdy again Gamerpals. I just want to give an update to my original post... as I have said above, I like to let people know what they are getting into. Thus why I do longer posts...
My first post, I received about 10-ish invites. After this long 2 stuck, not bad. :) The other individuals did not take any initiative to do anything, so since I keep my list clean they were removed. I do not mind if you are shy, even behind a computer, but you should still give it a good try. I am bad at conversation as well, but I try.
Also, if you are only into playing a single game like a couple of those people were, I can only do that for so long... my interests are wide & broad. I like to change it up, not often, but variety is the spice of life. I got to learn the games those people wanted to play, which I am grateful for. A one game friendship is just too constricting. Somewhat of an exception is MMOs, but Ive not met people too interested in the ones I play.
I am currently interested and investing my time in playing the following games (list is not definitive... will play most games i own any time):
Elite Dangerous (Private Group Only/PVE), ARK (PVE with or without mods), Fortnite (Save the world only), WarFrame, SWAT 4 Co-Op, R6Vegas 2 (Terrorist Hunt), Orcs Must Die Unchained.
There are games I want to play, but not without others... so just ask me if there is something you are interested in.
Also, one of my times have changed... play time for earlier in the day during the week is from 3:15pm CST to 5 pm CST (Still get days I can play longer if I get the "Boss" ok).
I have not had an issue getting along with people, but one of my new pals has potential to pierce "safety bubbles" and only because of talking about their outlook on life and life experiences... so if you choose to play with me, it may involve playing with that person as well, so if you are easily offended by things, it may not be in your interest if you cannot accept people's opinions/outlooks/ways of thinking... without drama. Discussion is great, writing people off just because you cant accept them for who they are, that is not. We joke, make fun, and talk about life and game.
You may be safe though cause they are on EU time (+7 hours ahead of me). So weekends is the time I most play with that individual.
The other new pal i made, does not use voice chat, so I type to them... if this bugs you far too much if we all play a game together, either dont complain, or leave. As my original post says, I don't mind it at all. They do listen in on discord and I talk to them that way occaisionally, but only when we play with others.
As in my original post, I wont judge. We all come from different walks of life. You accept me, I accept you. Though making fun or giving a hard time to one another isn't out of the question... =D
If you have again made it through this post, props to you! Hit me up if interested and let me know this is where you found me. -ViperGT03

2017.02.26 11:58 maxlepeh Raid Heroes. Big "Mechanics" update.

Hello again!
Previously I introduced my encounter analysis tool. Since that time some small updates were released, focused on QoL features and more data represetnation.
After a lot of hours spent, I'm happy to present the "Mechanics" update, which brings encounter mechanic and player fail markers for every raid boss!
This update also adds small features as time wasted (cancelled cast without effect), smoother dps graphs, and, as always, bug fixes. Here is list of detected mechanics:
Vale Guardian
Gorseval the Multifarious
Sabetha the Saboteur
Slothasor
Matthias Gabrel
Keep Construct
Xera
Cairn the Indomitable
Mursaat Overseer
Samarog
Deimos
As far as I know, I am pioneer in mechanics representation, so I'll monitor other parsers that announced similar feature.
Now about future plans. There will be small releases with fixes and snadalone features, and big releases, that need changes across whole app. Mechanics update is missing one feature: player summary, but it will come later bundeled with other exiting stuff. The other feature that is close to be implemented are optional information and healing.
About online tool. Encounter reports are big in file size, so it's a main thing to consider in server development. I want to implement this in to steps: first, it'll be a web site where you upload .evtc (including compressed variant) and get link for your report to share. It's a hobby project, I'll probably use cheap VDS, so there will be limitation on lifetime of reports on server. As always, reports still are sefl sufficient html's, so you can easily archive them on your computer. Next step involves some serious tech, including gw2 api, client-side web app and other stuff that take big chunks of time, so I don't any idea when it will be released.
As always, write me your opinions and suggestions, check raidheroes.tk and know your raid heroes!

2016.07.27 22:15 loroku people won't like this but: trading will be bad for the game

Hi, I'm Tradey McTraderson, here to tell you about how awesome trading will be!

You guys all remember back in the golden days when you had to buy a cartridge to play, and physically connect one proprietary device to another, right? That's why you're all so nostalgic for trading, because of how cool that was! Thank god we don't live in that reality anymore!
So to start, I made 5000 dummy accounts. (How do you think pokevision works, anyway?) Accounts are free, so why not! I even automated a script to make them and ran it over night! Millions are made every day, what's a few thousand more? (Actually, just kidding, I've been doing it for weeks!)
So what can I do with 5000 accounts? Well, to start, I made myself about 30+ charizards, blastoises, venusaurs, and raichus from trading all those starters around. Those are probably going to be worth something (see below) so I stored them all up. (See below for how I traded them all around.)
Next, I got 50 pidgeys in 15 minutes. That's right, I just moved around until I found a pidgey, then I caught it, logged out, logged into my next dummy account, and then caught it again. Rinse, repeat for 15 minutes.
But gosh, that takes a lot of time. And I actually hate walking around! How ironic! So I used a script I got online that just spoofed my GPS to the next pokemon I found on the cool pokemon-finding map I got online, upgraded it with some bot software that already exists to catch the pokemon for me, and then distributed it to the 5000 accounts. Now I caught 5000 pidgeys in 3 minutes. Great!
But who wants crappy pidgeys? I want more rare stuff that might be valuable (see below). So now I have 5000 accounts spoofing all over the globe, catching 146 pokemon. I let it go all night and now I have thousands! Better yet, all my accounts are leveling up rapidly, so I not only have thousands of pokemon, but I'll eventually have thousands of strong pokemon. (I upgrade my bot to make sure I hit up lots of pokestops so it won't run out of balls, and automatically transfer pokemon below a certain level and IV threshold.)
So what can I do with all these pokemon? I'm so glad you asked! Let me ask you a question in return: wouldn't you pay a measly 5 bucks for a perfect IV, max-level charizard? (Or if they're smart enough to limit the level that can be traded: a your-trading-max-level charizard?) I mean, come on, seriously, you would, wouldn't you? OF COURSE YOU WOULD! And even if you won't, guess who will? Millions of people! So I set up my totes legit website, buymymons.com and start selling - just like all the people currently selling WoW gold and GW2 gold and nearly any other MMO game currency! I take all my zillions of quickly acquired, rare, perfect pokemon and sell them out to all the schlups who'd rather have a perfect IV charizard than 5 measly bucks! No harm no foul, right? I mean, I'm not HURTING anyone, I'm just drastically devaluing any sort of effort you might want to put into the game, and trivializing any sense of accomplishment you might have when other people buy their way to the top of your local gym scene in a few minutes.
But frankly, buymymons isn't making me enough money. And thanks to all that GPS spoofing, 4999 of my dummy accounts got permabanned! That's no fun! Well, thank goodness I have ties to some... let's call them mussian rafia characters who know how to send out about a billion phishing emails a day through worms they have located all over the world (like your own computer!). I'll pay them a couple bucks to borrow their services, and send out emails to everyone saying, hey - 4 A SUPUR OSSUM MEWT2, CLIX HR - and guess what! Out of a billion emails, a 0.001% response rate is still a million people! So millions of schmoes click my links and BAM - now their account is mine. I - well, my bots - trade all their good stuff for my thousands of pidgeys - I mean, I didn't stop at 5000 dummy accounts, what are you, new? - and now I have tens of millions of free pokemon that haven't been GPS spoofed and were traded through about a dozen laundering accounts and now you'll never know that perfect IV charizard you just paid 5 bucks for was stolen from your little neighbor Timmy who was too stupid not to click a link - but the best part is, you won't fucking care because all you care about is your perfect charizard and how 5 bucks is TOTALLY WORTH IT AND IT DOESN'T HURT ANYONE WHO IS ME!
What's that you say? Eventually those accounts will get banned? Who cares! They can't ban them faster than I can make them and use them. All GPS spoofing gets shut down? Who cares! I've already made so much money I can pay unlivable wages to some people in 3rd world countries and rural China to do all the heavy lifting for me. Or, not - it's not like I really need real accounts anyway, since I'll just steal your - OPPS! I mean TOTES NOT YOURS - account from the zillion phishing emails that infect every corner of the globe and double the world's spam. Who knew little Timmy was trading a thousand stolen pokes a day through some Chinese dummy accounts! Gosh I hope the FBI swats his ass. What a cheater.
And don't forget that some - let's face it, millions - of people will just trade me awesome rare stuff for stupid shit all goddamn day, because that's what happens online and in person in every other pokemon game ever made! Oh, and what about duping - we didn't even GET into duping, which has infected every single pokemon game ever and thanks to this little thing called computers I don't see that trend ever stopping! I'll spend a tiny fraction of my daily income to hire some good folks to look into making that happen as well, just to be sure. And once that's done - well folks, I'll just have to close up my shop and go home, because I'll have all your money, and you'll have a perfect IV max level of every type of pokemon, and the entire game you love so much that you couldn't wait for the awesomeness that will be trading will be worthless to you and everyone else. Until they put out an expansion and we do it all again!
Edit: Unsurprisingly, this post isn't popular! People really don't want to be told why something they think will be so awesome will absolutely ruin the game. Even if you, personally, don't care about cheating, you'll probably care when your account gets hacked. Look at WoW for inspiration about how much bad can happen. Then take away Blizzard.
Also, several have proposed that only face-to-face trading will be possible. First, that still doesn't fix everything - like kids getting ripped off. Second, uh no. That's not going to happen because they're not going to make you fly to Europe and then Asia to complete your pokedex. Also, remember that 50 yr old men play this game along with 14 yr old boys. Imagine the press they DON'T want about that.

2015.03.13 19:58 Kilawaga Current state of pvp

I've been following skyforge for awhile now, and was hyped when they offered founder access. Unfortunately that hype is definitely dropped significantly after experiencing the combat and pvp in general. These are simply my observations, opinions on the game so take them with a grain of salt. However after playing many mmos over the last 15 years of such, I think I have a pretty good idea of what works and doesn't work in pvp.
Targeting
Targeting in this game is extremely funky and counter-intuitive. Right now you need to tab to the target AND push F to lock on. Why not just have both of those functions in one button rather than 2? Not to mention it's extremely easy to get hung up on a target, and have your camera locked on your own character. This usually happens when you're transitioning from friendly targets (USING T ) to enemies. Transitioning without using the T button causes all sorts of the problem. Right now targeting (at least in pvp) is kind of a mess.
Combat
Combat is sort of in a weird place. It gives me a very shoddy gw2 hybrid-action / traditional combat feeling. However I feel like GW2 did combat extremely well, where was combat in skyforge is very lackluster and the whatever glamour it has left doesn't last very long. Basically combat in skyforge is extremely boring. The difference between melees and ranged when it comes to the combo system (which is extremely simplistic) is a night and day difference. Basically melees get to use combos, ranged don't. That is unless you considering holding down your button and releasing it a combo. The ridiculous amount of animation lock also makes playing a melee feel like standing still in comparison to other games.
Basically combat in skyforge is not terrible, but it's not good either. It's just kind of "meh".
Scaling
Right now damage is way too high, and health is WAY too low. This is extremely apparent with valor and spirit stacking, and the impulse damage modifier. Right now I can crit multiple targets with cryoblast doing 1.1k damage, most soft targets around my prestige level have only 2.1k health. That's basically 52% of one person's health with an ability that requires no thought at all to use. It's not just cryomancer that's broken with the current scaling. Lightbinders with sparks of anquish, Paladin's with righteous verdict are also huge abusers of this too. It's basically like having everyone running around with a shotgun on a halo 1 map while playing swat.
Executions are another problem. That last 10% of health, where you might of actually had a chance to get away and recover is taken away from you with the current state of executions. If you get locked down the odds are you're going to die.
Least us forget, the retarded ability weapon modifiers that are currently on main and off hand weapons. Let's take the cryomancer's crystal for example. Currently you can get an off-hand weapon with a 60-120-180% cryoblast damage modifier. Now this alone might not be a huge issue, however once you factor in valor (bonus damage based on the health of the target), spirit (impulse damage) and a fact there is a FUCKING TRAIT THAT LET'S YOU DO 3X MORE DAMAGE WITH CRYOBLAST. Well let's say this, if you're playing cryo you're all smiles, if you're playing the other guy, get fucked. Paladins, light binders and other classes get the same sort of ability modifiers and can put out similar numbers when it comes to damage. Ridiculous when you consider how health scales currently in the game.
Now imagine with all of the above shenanigans, you throw in a double damage buff, like the one on 3v3 map. This single buff can determine who win's or loses on the 3v3 map, and if you're stacking all of the above mechanics, whoever is on the other team is going to have a very bad day.
The fact that there is no normalization of any sort when it comes to equipment or status is also a huge issue. This leads to two things:
Suggestions:
Crowd Control
Crowd Control is absolutely ridiculous in the game currently. Most of it requires no thought to use, and there are very few options to counter act it. This might change further up, but from observing my classes AA it doesn't really seem like it. I strongly hope they put in some sort of break out mechanic that can be used every few seconds, cause right now any good team is going to layer CC and execute you before any reaction can happen.
Dashes (what's the point?)
Dashes don't really serve much of a point in PvP at the moment, considering 80% of the game is tab targeted brainless push and forget abilities. This is extremely evident when fighting character with lock ons, or gap closers. For example, if the gunner's missile animation is in play, whether you dodge or not, the missiles will still follow you and make contact. The same goes with the paladin; mid animation gap closers cannot be dodged. Even if you use a teleport ability, if the person targeting you with ability activates it, and you blink mid-animation, the ability WILL STILL HIT YOU.
I can't tell you how infuriating this is. Why even have dodge/dashes in the game, if 80% of your abilities can't miss?
The Arenas
Right now I don't see a point in having an FFA arena. This is more like the "sit back, wait till someone is low health, come in and mop them up" arena to be honest. I've reserved myself to using the most underhanded, cheesiest lame-o tactics, and game the system as hard as possible when it comes to this arena. FFA has no business in this game with it's current implementation.
Personally, I would of preferred if the FFA was based around King of the Hill, "Kill the King" or "Odd ball" types and less about kill score.
The 3v3 arena fares a little better, but it too is horribly designed. The fact that many ranged abilities (righteous verdict, cryoblast, gunner's bombardment ability) can practically hit you from one side to the other and do INSANE damage is ridiculous. Right now the team that can take the middle, and get the double damage buff has a too much of an advantage, it's practically game over if a cryo / lightbinder stacking spirit and valor with some luck is getting this buff, since they can easily do 1k+ damage on every impulse charged nuke.
These are just a few issues I have with the game, and pvp in general. Scaling, CC and general map construction needs a lot of work if the developers give a shit about pvp at all (which I'm getting the vibe they really don't). The allods team has never been good at balancing, so I have little to no hope that any of these things will change in the future.
Conclusion
PvP in skyforge currently is in a bad spot. Scaling, CC, Broken Weapon Modifiers and poor map design are all contributing factors. What's worse is the combat is nothing special, it really is more of the same recycled crap that other games have done better. The UI is extremely poor (having to open up a huge window just to invite people to your party, or add them to your friend list using some shitty russian facebook wanna be setup.
Nothing about Skyforge resembles "good" and what little fun that can be had easily fades with a few hours of play. Eventually the game breaks down in to a mind numbing prestige grind, with very little pay off.

2015.02.16 01:54 Cmazza [Discussion] A Halo 2 Ranking System Would Breathe New Life Into This Game

Right now this game (while I do still love it) is lacking replay-ability as most of us know, especially once you get to level 32. You grind for hours to get all this great loot and exotics, but for what purpose? Just to have bragging rights in the Tower?
I believe Crucible is where this game truly needs to extend itself. Destiny, in my humble opinion, is like Guild Wars 2 in terms of how it relates to being an MMO. It has loot, a numerical damage system, public events, dungeons/strikes, but both games are lacking what gives other MMO's a long lifecycle. GW2 is able to get away with this because it's more of a PvP based MMO in comparison to others, such as FF14 which is more PvE based.
Destiny however, is lacking an addictive PvP system. Sure it's fun to go at it over and over again against other guardians, but you don't really feel much of an accomplished feeling when all is said and done. So therefore, we have a PvE portion of the game, which is strongly lacking, and we also have an un-fulfilling PvP.
The solution? Give us some kind of skill based ranking system. How many hours were spent on Halo 2/3, not grinding for loot, but shooting for that level 50 rank in Swat or Team Slayer? There must be some kind of bragging rights for those who are more dedicated to the Crucible aspect of the game, and it would be so simple to implement.
Or if they really wanted to do something new, Why not have different skill divisions based on Light Level? They could break up divisions into lvl 20-24, 25-28, etc., so that even those who arent grinding out raids still stand a chance. I think it would distract people from the repetitive PvE portion of the game, and give veterans a reason to keep playing once theyve gotten all the best loot.

2014.08.10 23:19 knubs528 Debating if I should get this game

Never played an MMO, but have finished up most of my backlog and have some free time. I do like that this MMO is buy once & no subscription fee, but still need some convincing before buying lol
  1. How is the combat? I dislike combat where 2 parties stand around and swat at each other, I like it to be active & weighty (spoiled to souls combat).
  2. Is the game still active?
  3. Any advice for getting into an MMO, specifically GW2?

2014.07.09 17:53 Areann Suggestion for new hardcore PvE maps

We all know that open world PvE isn't challenging to veteran/hardcore players. Yet Arenanet won't design large group instanced content. Love it or hate it, it is what it is. So I thought of something to bring together the best of both worlds. Maps designed for party scale combat with dungeon type mobs that everybody can enter once a day (how long one can stay there depends on the player).
There are five big enemy factions in the game. Centaurs, Inquest, Sons of Svanir, Flame Legion and Nightmare court. Each of them get a new map, that is their home territory. As result there are no friendly npc's, repair stations or waypoints in the entire map. When players go their, they are behind enemy lines. So why go there? For the challenge and the rewards ;-)
The zones are similar to Cursed Shores. War like events everywhere. But there are some additions:
Patrols: the entire zone is covered by a dozen (or more, I'm bad at estimation) patrols each five elite enemies strong. Their function is that your controlled fight can get messy real fast if you don't take them into consideration.
Artillery stations: Like the catapults from the risen and centaurs. Every spot on the map is in reach of one artillery station. These can be set on fire by the players. The npc's will then try to save it and later on rebuild it when necessary. The artillery stations can only see players in the frontal quadrant, their line of sight.
Enemy scouts: they will sound the alarm when they spot you (see you in front of them upwards to 3000 range). This makes hostile 'SWAT' teams spawn at the enemy base that run towards that location and search for the players. It also makes artillery being targeted to your location as long as a scout has you in his view. Scouts can see trough stealth, but not through rocks/trees/... So sneaking up on one to kill him will be hard. Scouts will always try to run and avoid combat.
Runners: When you attack a group of mobs, one (or several) will always try to take off and warn a scout.
Threat: The longer you survive in the map, the more threat you build up and the easier the scouts can see you. It also scales the SWAT teams that are send towards you. The threat from everybody around is also counted. If your threat is really high, all the mobs will try to reach the scouts to mobilize SWAT teams.
Bonus objectives: burn supplys, poison wells, break equipment, destroy artillery, steal an artifact, copy battle plans, ... All these can be done while doing the events.
Damage/control/support: each group of mobs you encounter will have mix in their composition. This gives them possible access to all the boon, conditions, crowd control, ... The mobs individually also all have a dodge and a heal. So stacking and bursting might be a bit harder ;-)
If your dead, you can't go to a waypoint in the map to revive. Players can still revive fully dead players. But better watch out for that artillery, patrol, scout ... ;-)
So tell me what you think, and I'll see if it's worthy to put it on the official forum.
Edit: took out a map kick system that doesn't belong in gw2
Note: I have been thinking about this since a couple on months and finally decided to work it out when I read about the Craglorn update from ESO.

2014.05.20 00:28 mozacare Suggest something for me

So I'm into a wide variety of games. I was a HUGE runescape and Guild Wars fan. I played Shattered Galaxy a ton. Huge fan of Mass Effect 1,2,& 3. I played/play GW2. Huge CS:CZ fan. I have CS:GO which is alright. Dabble with SWAT 4, Crusader Kings, and Sins of A Solar Empire. Fallout 3 was awesome. This list is all over the place but I'm looking for something that requires some thought/effort/skill. SC/SC2 were fun but not really my thing. And I don't like LoL at all. Any suggestions would be useful. Thanks!

2013.04.29 21:23 Juhyo Just when I thought I was burned out with GW2, I...

Tl;dr Stuck my head out of CoF and decided to re-explore dynamic events, PvP, WvW, and roll an alt -- how I learned to stop worrying, and love the game
Lately, I've seen a lot of posts here of people asking what there is (or what else there is) to do at "end-game." Reaching the 600 hour mark, I also started to feel a bit blegh but primarily because the game became a grind to me. I was aiming to get the legendary sword Bolt, but in pursuing it, I essentially turned GW2 into CoF-P1/Orr. When I started to hear Magg in my sleep, I knew I needed to take a step back and re-evaluate whether I still enjoyed this game or not.
I went into PvP and WvW for the first time in a long time and was blown away. A few weeks went by, and with it, another 100 hours of play time, and I realized just how little I actually understood my class. I thought I knew everything by having reached scale 40+ in FOTM and achieving the dungeon master title, but getting owned by other non-ganking thieves (because ganking thieves are just like annoying flies when you have blinds and 4 seconds to swat them down), I quickly realized otherwise. T1 WvW is SO MUCH FUN! It's a money sink and I find myself pouring dozens of gold into it, but my goodness is it worth it when your trebs helped take down a fully upgraded keep. Also, PSA for all of you guys standing on the keep walls and shooting down at us -- a thief can easily pull you off with scorpion wire, then basilisk venom and nuke you down before you can escape :D Just adding to the reasonable fear of thieves.
And then I realized that even though I had map completion, I raced through everything and skipped all the best content -- dynamic events -- during the GW2 head-start. Rolling a new mesmer alt and taking my time through zones, actively searching and waiting (hah) for all the dialogue associated with dynamic events, I can only say WOW. The personal story was a bit of a let-down, but I feel like the REAL story-telling is in the world that ANet has created. So many of the NPCs in the world have amazing backstories, and you can really get a taste of the local lore and see how the elder dragon threat has touched every corner of Tyria. Also, HOLY CRAP MESMERS ARE SO MUCH FUN! Incredibly frustrating that they don't have any passive speed boosts though. If I got 600 hours out of my thief and haven't even mastered that class, I can only imagine how much more I'll get from mesmers, who I believe have a higher skill cap.
I've put aside the grind for Bolt for now, and my new goal is to participate in every "interesting" (read: has special dialogue or something extra to it, other than it just being an event) dynamic event in the world. That, and reaching rank 30 in PvP, getting rank 50+ in WvW... there is SO. MUCH. TO. DO! Best $60 ever.
What did you start doing when you felt burned out from whatever it is you were doing?
